…a deep dive into g.r.a.c.e.

The Fundamentals introductory workshop provides a foundation in the theory and application of the g.r.a.c.e. sequence. It’s all you need. As with anything (meditation, yoga, tennis, languages, etc), the vital part is also the hard part: Practice. And, as with the others, it is a whole lot easier in a community you enjoy with the ongoing help of a teacher.

The “Deep Dive” is a five-month course dedicated to deepening one’s experience and skills in the context of a trusted, closed group, whether online or in person. The work builds over a series of sequential modules, each taught live over three weeks with a one-week break between. Classes include new material, guided sessions, group discussion, individual help, and collective practice. It is neither psychotherapy nor directed spirituality, but it extends and enhances both greatly, whatever your path.

Between sessions, journaling deepens the insight, rotating partnerships give each member the support and gentle accountability needed to learn the new material, and an online community gives the group private space to ask questions and share their progress.

Dodge is active in all aspects of this training and remains highly available throughout.

The result allows you to move from “renting” this skill set to owning it for life — th. Much more, it involves working deeply, in community and with expert supervision, to tackle some of your life’s deepest issues — and make changes beyond anything one might reasonably expect. It’s beautiful.

The “Deep Dive” is a five-month, small-group intensive that takes you from competent to truly skillful —

and helps you heal as you go.

the five modules over five months…

  • This module helps participants develop, first, the HABIT of daily use of this very different way of connecting with life and oneself. From there, myriad daily uses are learned, explored, and played with, from morning and evening practices to working with it on the go.

  • After the first month of learning to work in new ways one’s daily experience, participants learn to take those skills and apply them to greater pain and distress — the harder moments in life where staying fully present for one’s practice is more challenging. Along the way, of course, participants are not just learning this process but benefitting from its daily use.

  • Building daily skills along with the capacity to address heavier subjects allows the next stage of work: addressing how the past is still present in our lives, and how the g.r.a.c.e. sequence can help us address that.

  • In working regularly with what hurts, especially historically, themes begin to emerge. For all of us, there are core wounds — understandable but unhelpful distortions — in how we see ourselves and life itself that shape how we live. This same gentle process that at first could only dissolve mere frustrati by now has the power to change how we relate to even these bedrock limiting beliefs.

  • After working to build a daily habit of applying this paradoxical process to our pain, our past, and even the most core injuries to who we know ourselves to be, there’s new freedom to dare to be hopeful at an entirely different level. So many questions flood in!

    • Who am I meant to be?

    • What life would bring me greatest joy?

    • What young, small part of me wouldn’t dare let this in? . . .

In this month, we work in the tension between what we want and our often unconscious fears — both to risk letting that longing in, and to let ourselves become the rest of who we are.

wait, what's the g.r.a.c.e. sequence?

Imagine attempting to capture the most immediately healing elements of several ancient spiritual traditions together with modern trauma psychology in just a few grounding breaths anyone could practice at home.

Impossible?  I thought so too.  But 17 years ago I was asked to try. And it worked.

The g.r.a.c.e. sequence is the result of that brave request and many years of refining it for clients and private teaching circles. The result has far exceeded anything I’d have hoped for.  It’s time for more people to know about it, and this year I am working to make this more widely available.

deep dive schedule

Depending on participant needs and availability, one or two sections will work together from August through December, 2025, most likely on Thursday or Friday mornings. We’ll meet three times a month

cost

$1,745 total, payable monthly ($349) or up front at a discount ($1,595).

Limited scholarships and extended payment plans are available.

requirements

Because a certain level of g.r.a.c.e. sequence competence is required, the Deep Dive is available with permission from the instructor to be sure each participant is ready to benefit from the course. Reach out for a conversation about it any time.

Generally groups are comprised of those who’ve finished prior g.r.a.c.e. sequence courses and/or have received direct coaching from Dodge. It’s not stringent — just a wish to be sure all will have the best experience possible.

format

Groups will be either 75 or 90 minutes (TBD).

Depending on participant and instructor availability, the Fall 2025 cohort will meet:

  • in person in Nashville (location TBD)

  • online via Zoom (equally effective in prior groups)

  • or one of each

Online connection, questions, information, and ongoing guidance between sessions is hosted via a closed chat community (previously Slack — we’ll see).

next steps

Please register above to express interest, share schedule preference, and arrange a conversation with Dodge about participation. You’re welcome to reach out to me through email here, as well, especially with questions or information to share that doesn’t fit the registration.

looking ahead…

For those curious, the g.r.a.c.e. sequence workshop options continue well beyond this one. Following the Deep Dive, advanced personal work continues to work in the realm of the fifth month: Creating Gracefully is a working title for the closed group in formation for graduates of the Deep Dive. Participants will be working on further exploration into how to live intentionally as well as how ‘g.r.a.c.e.work’ can help us recognize and resolve resistance to living the lives we’re meant for.

For professional therapists, ministers, certified coaches, bodyworkers, and sponsors, additional training is available to learn to use the g.r.a.c.e. sequence as a gentle but powerful modality to mingle with their own skills. The first step is to understand from the inside out how this process works, and the Deep Dive is the best place to start!
